Lineage

  • St Paul's Episcopal Church 15 St. Paul St. Brookline, MA USA (map)

Our popular annual Lineage concert asks a fascinating question this season: What makes a musician? This year we take a deep dive into the creative evolution of Anthony Cheung, one of today’s most exciting compositional voices. Anthony is an internationally sought after composer whose recent commissions include works for the LA Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra and New York Philharmonic. He is a recipient of both a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rome Prize. We will take you on a journey exploring composers, mentors, and the wildly diverse musicians who have influenced him! Alongside gorgeous works by Enescu, Dukas & Bach plus vivacious music by Ligeti & Ellington, we are thrilled to premiere a brand new piece by Anthony written for Winsor Music! The program also includes the third installment of our Opus 1 project in which Rane, Gabby, and Anthony will work with students from the Boston String Academy to create a new piece of music entirely of their own. This night of two special premieres and intriguing musical connections is not to be missed!
