JOIN US in the creation of new music!

Winsor Music is leading a consortium of oboists, bass clarinetists and chamber ensembles to commission a quartet from Lavell Blackwell. The work is to be between 10 and 12 minutes in duration and to be scored for oboe, violin, viola and bass clarinet. The work can also be performed by other ensembles: oboe and string trio, bass clarinet and strings or string quartet. The fee for each participating member is $500. Winsor Music, Inc. will take the responsibility for organizing the co-commission and for raising the funds needed to cover the commission costs.

Each member will give the premiere in its city, or another city if it is available. (Cities will be designated on a first come, first serve basis.) The premiers will take place after August 1st, 2023. Instrumentalists or ensembles are responsible for finding venues and for funding their own performances.

Lavell Blackwell’s composition is due August 1st, 2023. At that time, members will receive a digital version of the score and parts. Participants needing to raise money for the project can have tax-free donations made to Winsor Music, Inc. specifically for that purpose. We would like to receive payment by June 1, 2023.
