Pianist Mikael Darmanie, praised for his “Lisztian pyrotechnics” (New York Classical Review) and hailed as “exceptional” by The New York Times, joins Winsor for an evening inspired by the legendary Paris salon of Nadia Boulanger.
Boulanger's apartment was a gathering place where composers, performers, artists, and friends shared ideas, discovered new music, and celebrated one another's creativity. In that same spirit, this program brings together music by Philip Glass, Aaron Copland, Darius Milhaud, Grażyna Bacewicz, and Boulanger herself. Leonard Bernstein's Prelude, Fugue and Riffs fuses Baroque forms with big-band jazz, while unforgettable melodies by Michel Legrand and Burt Bacharach mingle with the cinematic flair of Lalo Schifrin. Our musical soirée celebrates friendship, curiosity, and the joy of making all kinds of music together.
